Many of you know I have a birthday coming up and Animation Magazine is reporting on something that I'm sure you'll want to get me:The cell is from The Band Concert, a Mickey cartoon made by Disney studios in 1935. It is expected to fetch a winning bid in excess of $100,000 when Heritage Auctions puts it up for sale in a comics and comic art auction set for Feb. 24-25.
“This cel is, in many ways, the ultimate Mickey Mouse item a collector could ever hope to acquire,” said Barry Sandoval, director of operations of the comics category at Heritage. “The Band Concert was the very first theatrical Mickey Mouse cartoon in color, and has long been cherished by Disney fans worldwide.”
